Heights will host an IB showcase Thursday, February 15, from 6-7:30pm in the Cafeteria. Visit with current IB students about their work!

 

This year's IB showcase features not only work from Heights students (DP, CP, and sophomore Personal Projects), but also Hogg Middle School (IB Middle Years Program) and Harvard Elementary (IB Primary Years Program) students.

Attention all FUTURE bulldogs!  A few more tour dates have been added for 8th grade families. Tours will be @ 1:30pm.  Parents, you MUST sign up on our sign-up genius (below).  Due to high demand, we cannot accommodate walk-ins.  Once you have signed up, make sure you arrive between 1:15pm-1:30pm.  Can’t wait to meet y’all! HEIGHTS MAINTAINS “B” CAMPUS RATING

Preliminary results based on TAPR data recently released by TEA indicates that Heights HS would have maintained its B rating had scores for the year been released (currently, scores have not been publicly released due to a pending lawsuit over changes to the accountability system).  From Ms. Hampton:  “While we will continue to strive to be an A rated campus and provide the best learning opportunities for every student, I am very proud of the work of the staff and students to maintain this rating in a changing accountability system.”

The PTO is thrilled to have been able to help with the project to install gates in the student parking lot.  Ms. Hampton recently sent out information regarding hours that the gate will be open:

Mornings:  6:50-8:30am

Lunch:  11:52am-1pm

Afternoon:  2:30-2:45pm

Dismissal:  4:10-9pm

If there is an event on campus in the evening, we will make arrangements to have them open longer.

Thanks to you the PTO was able to support Heights in two significant ways in December.  We contributed 50% of the funds required to install new automatic gates for the student parking lot AND we gifted each and every staff member $50.

Class of 2024 graduation will be Sunday, June 9, 2024 at 12 pm (barring any changes from the district!).  Mr. Montanez will share more details as they are received.

IMPORTANT FAFSA INFORMATION FROM THE COLLEGE CENTER

The College Center is planning numerous workshops in January and February to help seniors and parents complete the FAFSA. Workshop dates are below.

Beginning with the 2024–25 FAFSA, all contributors (student and parent/guardian) must have their own FSA ID. The FSA ID is a username and password that is required to login to FAFSA. Processing a new FSA ID can take up to five business days.

 

To create an FSA ID, please go to studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch

Those contributors without an SSN, but whose student is eligible to apply for FAFSA, will need an FSA ID.
