| Bulldog Fiesta: THANK YOU! |
Thank you to our amazing parents, teachers, and staff for making this year’s Bulldog Fiesta fundraiser a huge success! A special shout out to our incredible event chair, Barrett Kilian, for leading the way and doing an outstanding job bringing it all together with the full support of our event committee!
Together, we raised vital funds in support of Heights High School!
We were thrilled to see a record number of teachers, staff, and parents come out to support the event—it truly showed the spirit and strength of our Heights community!
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the wonderful parents, students and business sponsors — who stepped up to support the Bulldog Fiesta. Your support made the event a hit and truly backs up Heights High School in every way. The money raised will go toward teacher grants, student scholarships, and campus upgrades—all contributing to a stronger, more enriching learning experience for our students.
Your support makes a real difference—for our kids, our teachers, and our entire community.

| HISD Advocacy: The HISD Board of Managers has a regular board meeting on April 16 at 5pm. Read the agenda here. You can sign up to speak using the “e-comment” feature here. State Advocacy (from Raise Your Hand Texas): After a long day and night of debate ending at 3:00 a.m. on Friday, April 11, the House passed its version of the state budget for the 2026-27 state budget with a 7.7% increase in general revenue spending compared to the last two-year budget. The Legislature came in with a $23.8 billion balance. The budget includes $51 billion for ongoing property tax relief including the $3.5 billion in new relief proposed this session, an additional $7.6 billion for public school funding formulas, $1 billion for a new Education Savings Account program, a $400 million increase in school safety funding, and $500 million for new math and literacy programs and academies. House members filed nearly 400 budget amendments to the bill prior to debate, including several to redirect funds from the $1 billion school voucher program toward teacher pay and or retired teachers. In a procedural move, more than 100 of those amendments were essentially withdrawn, including those on vouchers, and were never debated. The state budget will now go to a conference committee where five members from the Senate and five members from the House will work on the final details. |

| Heights Public Library & Teen Advisory Club |
Heights Public Library is located down the street from Heights High School at 1302 Heights Blvd. They offer a variety of resources and services to all who hold library cards, as well as a hangout space for all. Fun fact - both teachers and students have access to their collection and online resources via a Learning Link Card. The login information for the cards is as follows: For students: Username: first letter of last name, followed by student ID number PIN: numbers for the month and day of birthday (ex. April 26 is 0426)
For teachers: Username: F + school ID PIN: birthday as well
The Teen Advisory Club will be kicking off in the fall of 2025. Membership in the club requires attendance at monthly meetings. Those who participate in the Club will learn more about library resources, post-graduation opportunities, share insights on how they would design a teen space at the library, and host their own program for their peers or for younger children. They will also receive service hours for their time. |
