23 Heights German Students Advance to Texas State German Contest!

A total of 40 students worked really hard in a short time frame to prepare their performances and skills to compete in the regional German competition known as "Houstonfest" all day Saturday, February 8 at Kingwood High School.

23 Heights German scholars will advance to the Texas State German Contest on Saturday, March 1 in San Marcos at Texas State University. 3 Seniors, 6 Juniors, 7 Sophomores, and 6 Freshman will compete at State.

In addition to tests of German skills, all 3 of Heights' dramatic acts placed third in the region. These students prepared and performed entirely in German.

The level-2 duet acting performed by freshman, Finley Smith, and sophomore, Aldo Rodriguez.
The level-2 skit performed by freshmen, Nora Egan, Annabelle Fox, Matilda Fox, Anna Weber, and sophomores, Matthew Carrillo, Lauren Hudgins, and Ava Bujnoch.
The level 4 skit performed by juniors Tristan Bowman, Sophia Esquer, Hannah Schmieder (also snagging best actress), and Eric Wagner and seniors, Max Barringer, Alisah Rodriguez, and Nadiyah Russell.

Many students placed in multiple events:

Junior Eric Wagner in 2.

Junior Diego Diaz in 3.

Freshman Matilda Fox in 4 (two first place finishes)

Senior, and German competition veteran, Nadiyah Russell, also in 4 (also with 2 first place finishes)
